I build respectful, reciprocal relationships with families and communities to support children’s learning and development.
ARTIFACT
Artifact: Family Interview Project
I conducted an interview with a parent to learn about their child’s routines, cultural background, and learning preferences. The parent shared that the child enjoys storytelling at home and speaks both English and Spanish. I used this information to suggest incorporating bilingual books into classroom activities.
RATIONALE STATEMENT
This artifact demonstrates my ability to observe and understand children’s developmental stages (1a) by analyzing physical, cognitive, and social emotional growth. It also reflects my understanding of multiple influences on development (1b), such as family background and environment. Using this knowledge, I designed learning activities that support and challenge each child appropriately (1c), ensuring a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.
