STANDARD 3 STATEMENT :

I use observation, documentation, and assessment to support children’s development and collaborate with families and professionals.

ARTIFACT

Artifact: Child Assessment Portfolio

I created a portfolio for a kindergarten student that included:

  • Anecdotal observation notes

  • A developmental checklist

  • Writing samples over time

  • Photos of classroom activities

I used these to track progress in literacy and social skills and identified areas where the child needed additional support.

RATIONALE STATEMENT

This artifact shows my understanding of assessment purposes (3a) and my ability to use observation tools and documentation methods (3b). I practiced responsible assessment by ensuring fairness and using results to guide instruction (3c). Additionally, I shared findings with families and collaborated with colleagues to support each child’s development (3d).
